How to Order
Educators should consider the following before placing an order from the Galaxy Arts Catalog. For more information contact: Maria Sofo, Administrative Assistant, at 814-237-3003 or via email at galaxy@ciu10.org.
Before You Make Your Selections:
Galaxy encourages all educators to review the Arts Catalog in order to align arts programming with the curriculum. All program details should be discussed and requests made to the building principal before the order is placed.
Selection Form:
One Selection Form is sent to each school, to the attention of the building principal. This Selection Form needs to be completed in full, signed by the principal and sent to the Galaxy office no later than the last Friday in September. Note: Additional selections can then be made throughout the year.
Artist Availability:
Galaxy makes every effort to satisfy school requests and preferences, pending artist availability. Please note, however, that artists are not Galaxy employees. They are independent contractors, who also have commitments outside of the Galaxy program.
Time and Space Information:
Performances generally run for about 45 minutes (plus Q & A) and start at either 9:00 AM or 1:00 PM (with some flexibility available). Please be sure the school and “auditorium” schedules are clear of conflicts before booking a performance. Due to heavy scheduling and limited availability of touring artists’ dates, rescheduling may be accommodated on a limited basis.
For artist visits (three 50-min. sessions) and artist workshops (two 75-min. sessions), artists remain in the school for up to 3 consecutive hours working with several different classes. Be sure participating teachers prepare accordingly, including addressing artist requirements, as specified under each resource and/or during the “advance phone call”.
Grade Levels:
When an arts resource indicates a range (i.e. K-12), the artist will tailor his/her resource to the grade level for which it is selected. For example, if an arts resource can be for grades K-12, and a school selects it for their 4th graders, the artist will adjust what he/she does so it is targeted to a 4th grade level. NOTE: Galaxy does not recommend combining grades K/1 with 5/6.
Arts Credits:
Arts credits can be used to purchase most programs. The arts credit awarded to each school is on record with the Galaxy office. Adjustments to the invoice will reflect the amount of arts credit awarded.
